Urbanization and its impact on society

Urbanization today has become one of the most important factors of development and change in the society. In the poor state of our country like Manipur, urbanization does not have a long history. It is true that the recent decades witnessed urbanization trends. The main objective of the study was to analyse the trends of urbanization and its impact on the structural aspects of society in general. For the present study an exploratory cum descriptive research design based on multi stage random sample has been made. Accordingly from 27 Wards in Imphal Municipality 383 households have been extracted though lottery method for convenient of the study. A pre-tested interview scheduled has been used for collecting primary data. From the study it may be said that urbanization is taking place in the area under study resulting in urbanism and development of modern mentality.
