Migration is well dominated phenomeneon throughout the length and breadth of India depending on various socio-economic factors. The State of Bihar with poor socio-economic scenario is the worst sufferer at the hands of migration and presently, provides workforce to every nook and corner of country. During the period 2001–2011, the socio-economic conditions of people have improved due to remittances earned by the migrants. Further, migration is becoming more and more crucial towards improving socio-economic development of poor areas of Bihar. Bihar has a high rate of out-migration particularly the male out migration rate has increased over the decade and it can be observed in both rural areas and urban areas. The present research paper identifies the trends and patterns of migration over the period 2001–2011. The study is based on secondary data sources of Migration Table (D Series), Census of India, Government of India.
