The current study analyses the performance of Indian states (major) with regard to their performance in health outcome. The indicators are converted in to indices and an attempt has been made to rank the states by constructing a multi dimensional index. For the same two types of methods are used, one the method adopted to measure PQLI by Morris and Mc Alpin, and the method used to construct the Human Development Index. States are ranked according to the index value between "0" to "1".
