Abstract

Law is often portrayed as an instrument of social change. It has been used as a tool of oppression as well as a tool for ensuring welfare of the people. Now there is an increasing trend of using criminal law in the name of welfare of the people. This paper analyses how criminal law is used as an instrument by the state and what are its possible implications
