Information Model provides with a framework for categorizing information in terms of the dimensions have identified in user and author communities. However, another critical dimension is needed to categorize information, based upon the nature of the information itself. That is information type. In the first tier of the Information Model consists of the dimensions of use, the second tier identifies the range of information types used to producer content in organization. Information types are subject matter-related categories of information that authors use to create a consistent, well structured topic. An information type consists of a set of required and optional content units. A topic is any stand-alone chunk of information that does not require another topic to be understood. A topic can be any size, as long as the content is self contained.
