Mode of accessing the libraries

In an open access library the books are displaced, put out of order, made untidy; the books on the shelves must be put back into their proper places, by the staff, daily and weekly. But as this disorder and untidiness is a direct measure of the extent to which people have enjoyed their opportunity to study books it is surely a minor disadvantages. And, though the staff must spend a few hours daily on this task in the process they themselves learn much about books and so become better qualified to assist readers.
