LIS education is a branch of education which helps in preparing trained professionals in the field of libraries. This article focuses on LIS education and its importance with special emphasis on Preservation and Conservation in LIS education. It throws light on the current curriculum of Preservation and Conservation in various Universities in India in 2015. With the change of various concepts of Libraries and Information Science, it is necessary to incorporate these changes in the syllabus of LIS education. One of the most important aspects of Library and Information Science is Preservation and Conservation. Time has come to change the traditional concept of preservation. Now-a-days unlike traditional preservation, time has come for adopting digital preservation system. As a result, syllabus of different Universities has been changed and adaptation of digital preservation is on the rise. Library professionals are now required to be imparted proper training on software and hardware to meet the digital challenges.
