Abstract

Scientometrics analyzes the quantitative aspects of the generation, propagation and utilization of scientific information in order to contribute to a better understanding of the mechanism of scientific research activities. This study analyzed the document pattern, authorship pattern, contribution of papers by the countries, core journals in this subject and most prolific author. For the present study the data were collected from the IEEE database on nanotechnology during the period 2001–2012. The study revealed that single authorship is reduced whereas multi authored papers were high shows the team work among the authors. India was in the 5 ’position in contributing papers during the study period whereas USA was the leading country in contributing nanotechnology field.
