Productivity Improvement by Layout Modification and Work Measurement

Productivity is defined as the ratio of output/input. The key to prosperity for any industry or organization lies in enhancing productivity. There are many ways of enhancing productivity. Some of the techniques consist of reducing wastage in all forms, making small and continuous improvements in methods, regular and autonomous maintenance of machines, line balancing, modifying layouts to smoothen the work flow, carrying out work study etc. Among all these methods layout modification and work measurement are simple and useful techniques. The objective of this paper is to increase productivity by improving the existing layout of Ennem Excel Industries Pvt Ltd, Hyderabad and to calculate the capacities of various work centers by establishing standard time and work norms.
