The banking industry has become such an important part in the development of the country that it has been considered as the lifeline of the economy. The Government of the various countries strives to ensure that the banking system prevailing in the country is conducive for the economic development of the country. The modern world is going through a phase where the Information Technology has brought about a revolution in almost all the fields and the banks have also been impacted by this revolution. The recent instances of using technology indicate that it can help in improving the efficiency, convenience of services, but lately it has come to light that excess use of technology can be troublesome. The objective of this paper is to study the evolution of Electronic Banking, analyze the challenges and opportunities concerning the field and also come up with recommendation that can help make E-banking a much favored option for the customer.
