Police infrastructure, training, adequate staff & co-ordination related challenges in cyber financial security

Abstract

As India experiences the growth of Digital Economy and Digital Banking the challenges posed due to Cyber Crimes is also increasing. The lack of sufficient numbers of trained police personnel to deal with increasing numbers of Cyber Crimes dealing with Financial Frauds is a challenge which all stake holders have to consider. While Digital Transactions are increasing, the security aspect can no longer be ignored. Financial Cyber Crimes are fast growing in volume and value. It can potentially derail the Digital Economy, which India cannot afford. The large population which is steadily adopting Digital Economy is apprehensive of the security of the Digital Transactions. It is essential to provide cyber financial security to ensure the population keeps its faith in the system. Only when the population trusts and participates in the Digital Revolution and Cyber Financial Transactions, the economy can garner the potential benefits of digitalization. The Police Department which deals with Cyber Crimes, including Cyber Financial Security must be well trained and adequately staffed to address the matter. Co-ordination between Police of different cities states and at international level is vital for ensuring Cyber Security.
