In the present energy crisis scenario of the world, biodiesels are the best alternatives to the mineral diesel fuel. Due to big climatic assortment, there are several nonedible oil bearing seed plants available in India. The energy is consumed in every stage of biodiesel production. Biodiesel production process involves various stages, i.e., nursery plantation, growth, seed collection, oil extraction, transesterification. For biodiesel production, mahua, jatropha and neem are the capable tree variety available in India. For this research work, a life cycle analysis technique is used in which cradle to grave analysis takes place. This research shows the organized evaluation of the energy consumed by mahua, jatropha and neem trees at each phase during the development cycle and conversion of its seed oils to bio-diesel fuels. Evaluated results verify that the total energy consumed during complete life of the plants in study is lower than the energy output through combustion in IC engine.
