Synthesis, Characterisation and Bio-Activity Evaluation of 3-Dimethylamino-Propane-1-One

A new amino compound having keto group that is 3-dimethylamino-propane-1-one hydrochloride has been isolated in solid state as its hydrochloride salt. It may show an anti-depressant activity as its moiety is very similar to some other anti-depressant drugs. The synthesised compound has been characterized by 1H NMR, 13CNMR, Mass spectra and Infra-red spectroscopy. It is also observed that the synthesized organic compound is white to off white in colour. It is non-hygroscopic compound. It is soluble in alcohols and sparingly soluble in other solvents.
