This article presents the load frequency control (LFC) of multi-area power system. The proposed model is framed with thermal and gas power plant. Dynamic responses are obtained by giving 1% disturbance. In this article, evolutionary technique is proposed for improving the performance of load frequency of two areas and tie-line power and their dynamic responses are then compared with conventional controller's response. In the family of evolutionary technique, a recent nature inspired algorithm named flower pollination algorithm (FPA) is used, which gives global minima solution. The optimal value of controller is determined by minimising the Integral of Time Multiplied Absolute Error (ITAE) of the function. FPA gives good convergence characteristics and promising computational results. The performances of the controllers are simulated using MATLAB/SIMULINK software.
