Abstract

Data on Assam Lolcal (AL), 1/2 Assam Local 1/2 Beetal (1/2 AL 1/2 B) and 1/4 Assam Local 3/4 Beatal (1/4 AL 3/4 B) goats maintained at the Goat Research Station, Assam Agricultural University, Burnihat were analysed. The 1/4 AL 3/4 B goats were superior to other genetic groups in respect of Age at first fertile service (AFFS) and Age at first kidding (AFK). On the other hand the AL goats were found to be relatively superior in respect of gestation period (GP), service period (SP) and inter kidding period (IKP). The estimates of heritability of AFFS and AFK were high and of GP, SP and IKP were not precise. The genetic and phenotypic correlation between AFFS and AFK and between SP and IKP were positive and high.
