Abstract

Lustre in wool is an important attribute to impart aesthetic appeal to the apparels made out of them especially the carpets. Attempt has been made to develop a method to evaluate lustre of different wools and speciality hairs by measuring reflectance and fluorescence at 430 w and 520 nm (EX 350 nm) respectively. Indian Magra wool is comparable with New zealand wool in lustre. Some of the wools originating from Pakistan, saudi Arabia, etc., are not lustrous.
