Abstract

Eight apparently healthy female Iambs weighing between 12.0 to 23.0 kg and ranging from 9 to 12 months in age were utilized in a trial for comparing the rate of passage of dry (CP 20.16%) and green (CP 20.21%) leaves of ingadulcis for a period of 40 days. The last 20 days period was used for determination of rate of passage of the dry and green leaves through the digestive tract of sheep, of which first 10 days was for two times feeding and at the end of the last 10 days 3 time feeding effect on rate of passages was studied. The green leaves was excreted at a faster rate in 5% excretion time, rumen retention time and mean retention time in both the phage of two times or three times feeding. However, effect of frequency of feeding on rate of passage was non significant.
