Abstract

Natural, reseeded and sown models of silvipasture system were utilized with 10 Muzzafarnagari sheep/ha belonging to different age group and were supplemented with concentrate mixture @ 100g/day during December to June when the pasture herbage is poor in quality and quantity. The average body weight gain (g/day) was 40.97 in natural, 42.19 in reseeded and 50.73 in sown pasture system. Total nitrogen and ammonia nitrogen were higher in rumen liquor of sheep grazed on a reseeded pasture. However, TVFA concentration was highest in sown pasture conditions. No marked variations in slaughter weight, carcass weight and carcass yield were found on various models of silvipasture system.
