Growth performance of different category of jakhrana kids up to weaning age

Growth performance and weight gain were studied of the kids of Jakhrana nucleus flock maintained under open nucleus breeding system project. Pooled weight of Jakhrana kids at birth, at 15, 30, 45, 60, 75 and 90 days were 2.521, 3.811, 5.173, 6.450, 7.267, 8.152 and 8.558 kg, respectively. Average birth weight of A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, and J type born kids were 2.644, 2.421, 2.423, 2.255, 2.375, 2.48, 2.343, 2.19, 3.05 and 2.573 kg, respectively. Least square means for three-month body weight and per day body weight gains of A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, and J type born kids were 8.682, 8.513, 8.671, 8.100, 8.625, 8.733, 8.383, 8.200, 8.700, 8.728 kg, respectively and 67.08, 67.68, 69.42, 64.94, 69.44, 69.92, 67.11, 66.77, 62.77, 68.38 g, respectively. Overall least square means of weight gain per day in 3 months of age was 67.07 g. Body weight gains per day in 15 to 90 days of age of Jakhrana kids were found to be 86.0, 90.8, 85.13, 54.46, 59.0 and 27.06 g, respectively.
