Mecheri Sheep Research Station, Pottaneri-636 453, Tamil Nadu, India.
Twelve Mecheri lambs were randomly distributed into two housing systems viz., on elevated slotted floor and mud floor. The animals were maintained under intensive system of management to study the effect of housing system on growth rate, physiological parameters and faecal egg count. The results indicated that management system did not have any significant difference in the total body weight gain, physiological parameters and egg counts of lambs. However, looking the cost of the mud floor housing as compared to slotted floor housing system, it was found suitable for this region.
