Abstract

Adult Marwari and Patanwadi ewes were housed for 8 weeks under asbestos sheet roofed house, agro-net, walled open yard under the trees shade and under open sky. The mean concentration of Hb did not differ significantly among the treatments. There was significant negative association of Hb with DBT, THI, solar radiation, light intensity and wind velocity. Blood glucose level increased significantly when animals were exposed to sun during summer season as compared to animals kept under the asbestos sheet roof shade, Agro net and tree. It may be concluded from this study that the blood and hormonal profile of adult sheep were significantly affected by the housing system.
