Abstract

Blood samples were collected from the jugular vein of crossbred Marino sheep of 1–2 years of age having EPG >1000 (strongyle spp.) and/or OPG >2000 (Eimeria spp.). Variations in the levels of glucose, total protein, albumin, globulin, A:G ratio, calcium, inorganic phosphorus, magnesium, sodium, potassium and chloride were studied and compared with biochemical profile of healthy non parasitized sheep. Significant (p < 0.01) lower levels of total protein, albumin, A:G ratio, urea and calcium were observed in infected animals as compared to healthy control animals. The levels of glucose, globulin, phosphorus, magnesium, sodium, potassium and chloride did not show any significant differences (p > 0.05) between the infected and control groups of sheep.
