Selective breeding was applied as a tool for genetic improvement of Jakhrana goats at Central Institute for Research on Goats, Makhdoom. Breeding buck was selected on the basis of 9 months body weight. Increasing trend of body weight of kids at different ages in subsequent year was recorded. Season had no significant effect on weight up to 9 months of age. Males were 8.87–13.65% heavier at birth and 3 month than females. Sex of kids had significant effect on weight at birth, 3, 9 and 12 months of age. Type of birth had significant effect on birth and 6 months weights. Single-born kids had significantly higher body weight compared to multiple-born kids. The average daily weight gain was increased during 0–3 months and 3–6 months for each corresponding years of 2005 to 2007 and decreased in 2007 for 6–9 months than 2006. Daily weight gain was also lower during 9–12 months in 2006 and 2007 than 2005.
