Abstract

Serological survey of contagious agalactia (CA) was undertaken between February and December 2009 in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir. A total of 217 serum samples were collected from goats of both sexes showing clinical signs of CA like mastitis, arthritis, keratoconjuctivitis as well as from apparently healthy goats. The samples were screened for prevalence of CA by slide aggulutination test (SAT) and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The prevalence of CA was 32.03% by SAT and 20.3% by ELISA in female animals and 13.48% by SAT and 6.67% by ELISAin male goats.
