A study was carried out to record the variations in haematological and biochemical parameters of local Bundelkhandi goats in different physiological stages and sex. In female goats, red blood cell (RBC) and white blood cell (WBC) counts and packed cell volume (PCV) were higher (P<0.01) and mean corpuscular volume (MCV) values were lower (P<0.01) in growing kids compared to lactating goats. Mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH), mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC) and haemoglobin (Hb) values in blood were comparable among the different physiological stages. Biochemical constituents like plasma glucose and protein concentrations were higher (P<0.01) while plasma urea (P<0.01) and cholesterol (P<0.05) were lower in growing kids compared to adult and lactating goats. Similarly in male goats, different physiological stages had significant effect on RBC, WBC, PCV, Hb, plasma glucose, protein and urea levels. Conversely, MCV, MCH, MCHC and plasma cholesterol level were unaffected. However, there were no significant differences of local vs Barbari for majority of parameters except Hb and PCV levels. PCV (P<0.01) and Hb levels (P<0.05) were significantly lower in local goats compared to Barbari goats. The blood values from this study could be used as references for local Bundelkhandi goats.
