A trial was conducted to assess the effect of herbal immunomodulator on the immune status of grazing Mecheri lambs. For studying the immunomodulator action, 16 weaner Mecheri lambs of both sexes were randomly allotted to two treatment groups. First group (T-l) served as control and the second group (T-II) was administered herbal immunomodulator Go-Sanjeevi orally once at weekly intervals at the rate of 1 g/kg body weight. The lambs were vaccinated against PPR (peste des petits ruminants) disease seven days before start of the trial. The data on optical density (OD) and per cent inhibition (PI) values against PPR antibodies were recorded. The OD and PI value of PPR antibodies were significantly higher (P<0.01) in T-II compared to T-I on both 60th and 120th day post vaccination. It may be concluded that herbal preparation “Go-Sanjeevi” can be supplemented in PPR vaccinated lambs to sustain the immune status after vaccination.
