Abstract

Possibilities and prospects of employment in goat rearing in rural Mathura (U.P.) were explored. Flock size was observed to be directly associated with number of workers in the family and not with the family size. Highest labour employment in goat rearing was observed on large flocks (123.28 days) followed by medium (83.30 days) and small (39.24 days). Total value of family labour was estimated to be Rs. 848.35 and the highest proportion of goat keeping labour was observed to be on grazing (58.35%).
