Abstract

Twenty-one Osmanabadi kids were randomly divided into 3 groups and maintained under loose house in open paddock (Gr-I), closed house having thatched roof and slatted floor (Gr-II) and closed house having asbestos roof and concrete floor (Gr-III). The least squares means for body weights at 6 months of age were 11.25, 15.26 and 12.42 kg in Gr-I, II and III, respectively. The results indicate that the maximum body weight gain was in the kids kept in house having thatched roof and slatted floor and it could be promoted for goat rearing in Konkan region of Maharashtra.
