Factors affecting flock life and life-time greasy fleece weight in Marwari sheep

A study was undertaken to evaluate the effects of genetic and non-genetic factors on flock life and life-time greasy fleece weight in Marwari flock comprising records of 3519 animals maintained at Arid Region Campus of Central Sheep and Wool Research Institute, Bikaner. Flock life of the animal was calculated up to the 8^th clip of the animal and lifetime wool yield was calculated as total wool yield given by the same animals during their life. The overall least-squares mean for greasy fleece weight of flock life and life-time clips were 2653.53±20.02 and 4195.30±20.99 g, respectively. The results revealed highly significant (P<0.01) effect of sire, sex, period and number of clip on both the traits. Effect of parity had highly significant (P<0.01) effect on life time GFW and significant (P<0.05) effect on flock life GFW.
