Abstract

The present study was conducted in Pali district of Rajasthan with the objective to assess the training needs of goat keepers. The study revealed that 33.75, 23.33, 32.50 and 48.75% of respondents perceived training needs as ‘most important’ in goat care and management, feeding, breeding and health, respectively. Majority of the respondents preferred one week training during summer season in their own village. The study concluded that, goat keepers needed training on breeding and health care to a greater extent to improve the production of goats. Hence, extension agencies should disseminate information based on training needs at the field conditions for livelihood security of the farmers.
