Abstract

Astudy was aimed to design reference charts and gestational age of Beetal goats by real-time ultrasonography utilizing measurements of crown rump length, biparietal diameter, trunk diameter, placentome diameter, umbilical thickness and length of kidney. Trans-rectal (7.5 MHz) and trans-abdominal ultrasonography (4.2 MHz) was performed from day 20 to 120 of pregnancy on six healthy pregnant Beetal goats. From day 20 to 60, the data were recorded bi-weekly and later on weekly intervals. Embryonic vesicle was first determined by trans-rectal ultrasonography at 20 days of gestation. All the parameters significantly (P<0.05) increased with the advancement of gestational age. Among different parameters, fetal trunk diameter was highly correlated with the gestational age. It was concluded that age of fetus in Beetal goats can be predicted by ultrasound measuring of crown rump length, biparietal diameter, trunk diameter, placentome diameter, umbilical thickness and length of kidney.
