Wool characteristics of Bhakarwal sheep were studied in 12 Bhakarwal sheep (>1 year), six each from both sexes. Significant (P<0.05) differences were observed between males and females in fibre diameter (29.07±0.66 vs 34.70±1.07 μ), medullation (33.84±1.84 vs 29.60±0.95%) and burr (8.76±1.26 vs 5.30±0.78%) contents. The difference in length, crimp, scouring yield, grease, suint and bundle strength were non-significant between sexes. In general, the fibre quality (diameter, crimps, staple length and fibre length) was found better at shoulder, followed by flank, back, neck and thorax. It was concluded that region-wise grading of wool will provide a better market price.
