A study was carried out to evaluate three semen extenders viz., egg yolk citrate (EYC), tris egg yolkbased extenders (TE) and goat milk (GM) for short-term preservation of Malabari buck semen. Pooled semen samples (20) were collected using artificial vagina and each sample was divided and extended with three extenders and stored at 5ºC. Evaluation of progressive motility, viability, sperm abnormalities and acrosomal integrity were carried out at 0, 24, 48 and 72 h post extension. The semen samples extended with TE extender showed better characteristics (mean % progressive motility, sperm viability, sperm abnormality and mean intact acrosomes at the start and end of experiment of 84.75±0.68, 59.00±1.18; 90.30±0.46, 70.55±1.16; 2.80±0.21, 6.08±0.35 and 91.33±0.44, 77.10±1.25, respectively) during all stages of evaluation. It was concluded that TE extender was better among the three extenders used for preservation of Malabari buck semen at 5ºC.
