Abstract

Three each of sheep and goats were presented for treatment with the complaint of anorexia, general weakness and lethargy. The common clinical signs included emaciation, suspended rumination, tachycardia, anaemia and prolonged capillary refill time. On microscopic examination of peripheral blood smears, Babesia ovis and B. motasi were identified. The animals were given Diminazene aceturate, Oxytetracycline dihydrate, haematinic, rumenotoric and dextroseelectrolyte. Fresh blood was also transfused in two animals. Five animals survived and one died. The above treatment of affected animals shows encouraging results.
