A study was undertaken to determine the prevalence of different larval stages of tapeworms (metacestodes) based on the examination of viscera of sheep (n=300) and goats (n=300) during July 2009 to June 2010. Adult females (>1yr) and young males (<1 yr) were included in the study. The study revealed an overall prevalence of 34.6% of metacestodes. Sheep were significantly (P<0.01) more infected than goats. The metacestodes observed were Cysticercus tenuicollis and hydatid cyst as 31.83 and 2.83%, respectively. C. tenuicollis predominated in all the seasons with highest in winter (40.6%) and lowest in monsoon (21.3%) season.
