Adoption levels of goat management practices in Kheda district of Gujarat by goat keepers

Abstract

A study was conducted to ascertain the extent of adoption of goat management practices in Kheda district of Gujarat. A total of 120 goat keepers in four talukas of the district were selected for the survey study. Majority of the goat keepers (77.50%) had low level of adoption of goat management practices. Goat keepers implemented the highest adoption of housing management (32.63%) followed by breeding management (32.21%), kid management (31.29%), feeding management (24.04%) and health care management (22.28%) practices. Family size, occupation, land holding, flock size, annual income and mass media exposure established positive and significant (P<0.05) correlation with the adoption level of goat keepers for goat management practices. It was concluded that majority of the goat keepers had low adoption of the goat management practices.
