Abstract

The study aimed to report the comparative gross anatomy and morphometry of spleen in Gaddi sheep and goats. A total of 14 spleens (7 each from healthy adult sheep and goats) were collected from a local slaughterhouse. Grossly spleen was triangular and grey in sheep as compared to quadrilateral and bluish-grey in goats. Morphometric studies showed significant (P<0.001) difference in the length of the spleen of sheep (10.40±0.24 cm) as compared to goats (8.93±0.21 cm). Other measurements viz., weight, width, thickness and volume of spleen were did not differ significantly in the both species.
