The study aimed to evaluate the limitations faced by goat farmers in adopting scientific goat husbandry practices. Six veterinary dispensaries (VDs), two villages from each VD and 15 goat farmers from each village were randomly selected from Gondia district, Maharashtra. The limitations were classified into three categories: institutional, socio-personal, and economic. It was found that goat farmers main concern was decrease in grazing lands with a mean score of 4.83. Additional limitations were high medicine costs, poor market facilities and lack of credit and insurance facilities with mean scores of 4.82, 4.82 and 4.51, respectively. Respondents showed strong disagreement with the role of social taboo (1.61) and ignorance (1.54) as distress for the adoption of technology. Thus, access to grazing lands, veterinary care, reliable market channels and credit and insurance facilities are needed to facilitate the adoption of scientific goat rearing practices.
