Three female goats were presented with the history of right unilateral swelling below the ear and sub-mandibular region. Based on physical examination, radiography and ultrasonography, the swelling was a cystic structure filled with fluid. Colourless transparent fluid was seen on exploratory puncture of the swelling. Parasitic cyst was removed from the site by a linear incision. Following surgical excision, cyst was identified as Coenurus gaigeri (an intermediate stage of Taenia multiceps gaigeri) with four distinctive suckers on the scolices and a rostellum with a double crown of hooks. The goats were treated with praziquantel, antibiotic (Cefotaxime @ 25 mg/kg) and an anti-inflammatory (Meloxicam @ 0.5mg/kg) medication. They fully recovered after 7 days of post-operation. It was concluded that the surgical removal of the cyst is imperative for successful treatment for Coenurus gaigeri cyst infection in goats.
