Phenolics contents (gallic acid equivalents) in representative samples under different lopping management were 4.88±0.18, 4.49±0.14, 5.26±0.23 and 4.09±0.17mg/100mg in leaves of fully lopped samples of young trees, two third lopped samples of young trees, two third lopped samples of adult trees and fully lopped samples of adult trees respectively. To maximize the utilization of tree leaves in the sustainable livestock production, it would be advisable to lop at two third intensity in young trees and full intensity in adult trees so as to reduce phenolics ingestion by the animals.
