Body measurements of sheep in field conditions

Data pertaining to 100 local ewes were utilized for body measurements studies. The average body measurements were observed as chest girth (X₁) 76.48±0.38 cm, abdominal girth (X₂) 88.04±0.71 cm, body length (X₃) 101.96±0.57 cm and body weight (Y) 30.39±0.40 kg. Correlation study revealed that all the body measurements are positively and significantly correlated with each other. The R² value indicate that body weight can be predicted from chest girth, abdominal girth and body length, with at least 69% reliability with multiple regression equation which is found to be of practical utility in field conditions.
