Abstract

Majority of sheep breeders in Karnataka were landless and depended on sheep farming. More than half of the sheep farmers were weavers engaged in blanket weaving. The sheep wool was sheared twice a year and the yield per animal per year was one kilograme of coarse quality wool. The sheep farmers earn Rs. 13,000/- per year as net profit through sale of meat, wool and other products.
