Central Institute For Research On Goats, Makhdoom, P.O. Farah-28 1 122, Distt. Mathura, (U.P.)
A study was conducted with 36 landless, 34 marginal, 20 small and 15 medium-large (total 105) randomly selected goat farmers of 8 purposively selected villages under Goat Production Technology Transfer Area of the Institute in Farah block of Mathura District, Uttar Pradesh. Adoption of health care in goats was measured on the basis of formula used by Sengupta (1967). For this purpose, Barbari and non-descript goats were taken into account. Correlation coefficients indicated that flock size, availability of critical inputs, education, occupation, annual income from goat and goat products, total annual income, housing of goats, milk yield index, extension participation of goat farmers and awareness of goat cooperative society were positively and significantly correlated with the adoption of health care in goats of all the four categories of goat farmers and were extremely important in goat improvement programme.
