Abstract

Death and culling data of 386 Sirohi goats over a period of 14 years revealed that out of total losses in adult does and primiparous does (first time kidder), 19.2% were due to death and 80.8% due to culling for various reasons. The annual mortality and culling rates averaged 2.8 and 12.1%, respectively amounting to 14.9% of the total losses per year. The total losses per lactation were 23.9% out of which, 45% were due to death and 19.3% were due to culling. Lactation had significant effect (P<0.01) on death and culling rate.
