About 27 goats of different age groups were reported with paralysis of varying degree in an area spreading over 40 Km around Kharota during months of August and September 1999. Physical examination of affected animals revealed low to heavy ectoparasitic infestation. The affected animals were infested with lice, fleas, flies and ticks (genus Dermacenter). Based on history and symptoms, “ectoparasitic paresis” was tentatively diagnosed and treated.
