Goat keeping landless labourers (LL) and marginal farmers (MF) were living under very low level socio-economic conditions. Educational level was 16.73 percent in LL and 21.03 percent in MF. More than 81 percent goat keepers in LL category belonged to SC and BC groups while the percentage in MF category group was 53.6 percent. The ratio of Desi:Barbari goats was almost alike in small and large flocks for both the farmer categories but it was significantly different for medium flocks being 31:69 for LL and 67:33 for MF. Planners engaged in poverty alleviation may take care of these poor strata in formulating separate plans for their development.
