Abstract

Present study attempts to analyse the economics of contractual arrangements in goat rearing prevailing in Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh. As per the contract arrangement, the returns over variable cost (excluding labour cost) were shared equally by owner and contractual goat keeper. Economic analysis revealed that goat owner receives an average net return of Rs. 11877 per 26 goats. On the other hand contractual goat keeper gets Rs. 17049 per unit of 26 goats per annum for his family labour. Such arrangement would help in the development of goat enterprise.
