Abstract

Study was based on data of 569 Kutchi females for 14 years covering the death and culling of adult females and primiparous goats joining the milking flock. Out of the total losses 23.6% were due to death and 76.4% due to culling for various reasons. The annual death and culling rate was observed to be 4 and 14%, respectively in the flock. Year had significant effect on mortality and culling. It was observed that out of total mortality about 50% (48.9%) females died before they attained the weaning age (3 month). It was also observed that out of total mortality (0–3 month), 62.3% mortality occurred within the first 15 days of their life. Season of mortality had significant effect on the female kids mortality.
