Abstract

The reported study was undertaken on 525 of Kutchi kids maintain Regional Research Centre of CIRG, Avikanagar, Rajasthan. Effect of sire, sex, year, season, type of birth (up to 9 months) and regression of dam's weight at kidding were significant on body weight at birth, 3, 6, 9 and 12 months. Least squares means were 3.19±0.02, 9.59±0.13, 15.83±0.15, 19.31±0.16, 21.84±0.15 kg at birth, 3, 6, 9 and 12 months of age, respectively. Kids born in spring recoded higher weights at birth and at later age. Singles were significantly heavier than multiple birth kids. Heritability was low to moderate for all growth traits: genetic and phenotypic correlations among growth traits were significantly positive and high indicating that kids could be selected at early (6 to 9 months) ages.
