Abstract

The present work documents the first hand information from different tribal communities residing in Ayodhya hills of Purulia district about the herbal therapeutics for the treatment of arthritis. Scientific and vernacular names of 25 plants used in 13 remedies have been recorded along with the method of preparation of medicine, mode of administration and dosage. The total dependence of these tribal on herbal drugs for their primary healthcare can be attributed mainly to their socio-economic conditions.
